Oceanside Golf Course

I play this course weekly. Is it plush? No. It's a muni. Over the last year there have been significant improvements. The bunkers need to be better churned as they can be hard pan or just an inch down you'll find hard pan. Off the fairway and your ball could be in scruffy grass (not long grass/rough) or a dirt patch on a number of holes. Greens are in excellent condition, but in a week will be punched. The course will be a challenge if you stray. Houses "only" on 4th hole. Pace of play early a.m. good but can be tougher at later start times. That's not a knock on the course as with most courses that's the case on weekends. As a single, your chances of getting assigned to another group is good and most people are decent (or has been my experience). As I said, every weekend for the last 10-years. I've seen the ups and downs and still come back. Friendly service by all supporting the course.

This is a city owned public course. Keeping in mind the current drought conditions, it does provide value (particularly if you are a resident) and a good challenge. Is it the best looking when the fairways are brown (after the winter a.m. freezes)? No, however in the late spring, summer months the course turns green as you would expect. Part of the challenge is the need to keep the ball on the fairway. You could be off just a foot or two whereby the rough is penalty enough (and it's not "green, long grass rough". It's scruffy grass, it's dirt/sand, it's enough you are highly penalized. They've recently added DG as well as mulch throughout the course which in my opinion has helped the course. Over the last year, there have been significant improvements and despite any negative comments, the course (again city) is moving in the right direction.

Great lay out and greens were fast, smooth and soft. Fairways and rough need work but overall, really liked the course.

This course could be a terrific course if they woud spend $$$ and beef up th ambiance which is highly probable. Oceanside City Council has zero pride and that's too bad for us.

Remember its a heavily played muni so pace of play varies, I played on ladies day so pace was slow. Poor conditions due to recent heavy rains but will play again because of the lovals I played with who were very welcoming.

Muni course, so not so plush. Fairways get a little dry & gophers are a problem, although overall not bad at all. Because of high traffic, greens get bumpy by afternoon. Close to oceans, so weather is almost always perfect. Best deal I've found for a friendly round.

First time at this course. Greens and fairways a bit weathered, but understandible in the winter. Pretty flat course (except #12 & 13), fairly tight and short. Holes 12 and 13 come out of nowhere, 2 fun and unforgettable holes; 300 yd par 4 ~100 feet up a hillside, short par 3 back down the hill. Would like to play again in the spring in better condition.

Last time played the greens had just been sanded , are normally much better then current shape.

The green were in great condition for this course. Layout is a little quirky, would like to see a few changes to layout and maybe a little more length. Could be nice with some better care of fairway and rough.

Pretty good course. Great price if a resident senior.
